Capacity in PJM
Earn revenue for helping the grid maintain its reliability
PJM’s Capacity programs help maintain grid reliability when the demand for electricity exceeds the grid’s ability to supply it.
Participants in PJM’s Capacity Programs commit a certain amount of electricity they are able to curtail when the grid is stressed. When dispatched by PJM, participants reduce their energy consumption and receive payment for the energy they didn’t use.
As one of the largest Curtailment Service Providers in the US, CPower can help your organization get the most out of PJM’s Capacity Programs.
Your CPower team is with you every step of the way and can help you earn even more revenue by participating in other PJM demand response programs.
PJM Capacity Program Snapshot
The Capacity Program helps maintain grid reliability by calling emergency events which require customers to adjust their power consumption. Participants pick a fixed level of consumption (“Firm Service Level” or FSL), and will not consume more than that committed amount of electricity. Events generally happen on hot summer afternoons, and last 4 hours on average.
